Jonah Hill to portray Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia in Martin Scorsese-directed biopic: report

Martin Scorsese just nabbed his foremost guy for a film centered on the existence of Grateful Dead frontman, the late Jerry Garcia.

Jonah Hill will star in “The Irishman” director’s untitled biopic and will also serve as a producer on the film via his Potent Baby output arm, Deadline reported on Thursday.

The publication further relayed, citing insiders shut to the band, that the Grateful Lifeless and its management will also take part in placing the film together for Apple and have granted complete use of the band’s musical catalog for the challenge.

“American Criminal offense Story: The Men and women vs. O.J. Simpson” writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are set to pen the script, with Rick Yorn of LBI Entertainment also becoming a member of Hill and Scorsese as producers.

In addition, the Dead’s Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Invoice Kreutzmann will serve as executive producers alongside with their late bandmate’s daughter Trixie Garcia, Eric Eisner and Bernie Cahill, Deadline described.

The film will see Hill collaborate with Scorsese once more following the pair experienced 1st related on “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which earned Hill his next Oscar nomination for very best supporting actor.

Garcia passed away in 1995 at age 53 from a coronary heart assault.
